1. When is
the presidential primary in Arizona?
Democrats and Republicans will hold their primaries, or Presidential Preference elections on Tuesday, February 5. Early ballots will be mailed out the week of January 7th. Arizona will be one of more than 20 states holding a primary or caucus on February 5. The party's nominees for president could be decided that day.
2. Can I
still register to vote or change my registration?
You must do so for the primary by midnight, January 7. To register, go to www.servicearizona.com . You can also obtain registration forms by calling your county recorder’s office. Yavapai is (928) 771-3248. In Cottonwood the number is 639-5807. In Coconino it is (800)793-6181. You may pick up a form or go to www.co.yavapaiaz.us/electionsvr.aspx
3. How do I
get an early ballot?
The deadline for requesting an early ballot is 5 p.m. Friday, January 25. To get an early ballot go to the web site above or call the recorder’s office. Arizona now has a permanent early ballot list. Call the recorder’s office to have your name placed on this list.
4. What if I neglect to mail in my
ballot?
You can drop an early ballot off at any polling place on
election day. In Cottonwood you may place it in the specially marked drop box
in front of the Court House building on 6th Street on or before
election day. In Sedona, you may drive up to the drop box at the City Hall
Complex at 102 Road Runner Dr. In Prescott, there will be a drop box at the
county building at 1015 Fair Ave. You can check with your local municipality or
town to see if they also provide a drop box. Your early ballot must be placed inside of the
envelope
And the envelope must be signed to be valid.
5. When will
I get a sample ballot?
They are mailed out two weeks before the primary and general
elections.
6. Am I
eligible to vote in Arizona?
You are eligible if you’re a U.S. citizen; an Arizona resident (lived here 29 days or more); 18 years old; not convicted of a felony (unless your civil rights were restored); and not adjudicated incompetent.
7. How do I
prove citizenship?
If it’s your first time registering in Arizona or you moved to another county in the state, your registration form must include proof of citizenship. One way to show proof is to enter your Arizona driver’s license number in Box 13 and the date the license (or non-operating license) number issue date in Box 14 of the voter registration form. Other documents that prove citizenship include a copy of your birth certificate (along with a marriage certificate if your name has changed), a copy of your U.S. passport, naturalization documents and one of several tribal ID numbers.
8. When are
the polls open on election day?
Six a.m. to seven p.m.
9. What
identification must I present at the polling place?
One form of ID with your name, physical address and photograph, or two IDs without a photo but with your name and address. Acceptable photo IDs include a valid AZ driver’s license and an ID issued by federal, state, local or tribal government. Acceptable non-photo IDs include a utility bill or bank statement dated within 90 days of the election, a valid AZ vehicle registration, a property tax statement for your residence and a tribal ID.

Check the address label on the official sample ballot mailed to you by your county recorder’s office. Or contact your county recorder. Coconino: www.coconino.az.gov/elections Prompts will indicate polling places as well as other information.
11. When will I know the election results?
The night of the primary, February 5, unless a race is too close to call. The state cannot release any results on its web site until 9 p.m., an hour after the polls close. Usually those results are from early ballots submitted days or weeks earlier. The official results will be determined and approved by February 15.
